Next Colloquium: Why so serious? Generative AI (genAI) in Knowledge-Work from a Text-Workers' Perspective
We're back with our Colloquium series after the holiday break! The next Interdisciplinary Colloquium takes place on Thursday 1 October, 11:00-12:00 via Zoom.

DiTraRe at EASST 2026 in Kraków
From 7 to 11 September 2026, the EASST conference “More than now: Exploring resilient futures” brought together scholars to explore the role of STS in shaping present and future societies in Kraków, Poland.
On 11 September, Linda Nierling and Angelina Sophie Dähms (ITAS, KIT) contributed to the conference with their presentation “Co-constructing social realities of generative AI in science – the role of science governance actors” in the session “AImagineries of the social: The adoptions of GenAI in making knowledge on social realities”. Drawing on findings from an expert study on changing qualification requirements and implications for research sovereignty, the presentation explored how science governance actors contribute to the co-construction of social realities surrounding GenAI. It reflected on their role in shaping how GenAI is understood, adopted, and integrated into scientific practices, as well as how they influence emerging understandings of science and its future.
The session also opened up perspectives for further discussions and collaborations, with the session chairs expressing their interest in continuing to explore how AI-based technologies become adopted, appropriated, and accommodated in social research practices, and how these processes shape social realities and the role of science governance actors.
